Forged iron, 8 ¾” length with staggered double barbs and acutely angled butted seam conical socket. originally on a wood shaft of about 5’ length which provided the inertia to penetrate the seal. The head was detachable and secured with a line which allowed the hunter to  pull the seal from the water
