Gilt hilt with knuckle chain and fine ivory grip hand scrimshawed with monogram and crowned cross to the reverse. 30” d.e. blade decorated with crusades scene, owner’s name, and masonic motifs. The forte with retailer’s mane, D B Howell & Co. New York, recorded 1867-73. A few very superficial nicks from horseplay, otherwise excellent. Iron scabbard with three mounts, two with excellent enamel crossed, and the third with the Templar motto. Particularly early example with slight storage fading throughout and great age character.
