Narrow, round faced band. Size 9 3/4. Gilt bronze, crudely cast, evidently as a disk with the center removed by hand. It is thought that Viking warriors wore narrow rings to minimize interference with the grip of their weapons. Archaeologically undecided at this point but with abundant examples representing Vikings at pastoral pursuits, and raiding, clarity may be expected in the next few years. Vikings exchanged rings on the pommel of the groom’s sword. Professionally refurbished with the 24K gold overlay restored for modern wear. Gift boxed with a certificate of authenticity.
