This pistol is exemplary of those produced in the primary manufacturing center, Elbasan, in central Albania and represents the type in its finest form. Its long elegant proportions distinguish it from most of its contemporaries. See R. Held, pl. 265 for an example according in detail, quality and proportions. Compare to Held, pl.261-4, pistols contemporary with and produced by the same makers. 19 1/4" overall with stock entirely sheathed in engraved brass with seven white metal “grape clusters" along the back, each side with matching pellets in rows below. The wrist has a top crest or fin in four segments with pellets between. The 11 3/8" barrel is chiseled with foliage and pseudo ciphers at the forte. It shows wear with brown patina, some pitting, typical for these. The lock is engraved with foliage ahead of the mainspring and is impressed with a crisp maker’s mark at the middle, with a uniform gray surface. The stock is complete, and undamaged other than a few superficial bruises.
