8" d.e. blade with flat medial and chamfered edges, seated in a copper oval, probably made from an English large penny. The base laminated with scalloped edge reinforcements. Finely turned ivory grip with three additional copper spacers and finely mushroomed pommel with stepped brass and iron cap. Blade inscribed with chevrons at the tip, shows some isolated pits or forging blemishes but crisp and predominately smooth with gray patina. Hilt shows fine patina from age and handling, few checks and small nicks as expected. Exceptional quality and lovely form.
