The original garment pin was patented two millennia later as the “safety pin”. High reeded arched frame with transverse end decoration and concentric circle decorated terminal. Fastened at the shoulder and serving as jewelry as well as a garment fastener. This example is bronze, dating about 200-350 AD, about 2 1/4” in length of the arched back is decorated with raised edges and lineal banding, with the flared terminal cross banded. It has a good patina for the period.
