Elegant elongated barrel shape with thickened ends. Originally part of a large and elaborate necklace or pectoral. Originally gilt with the gold now restored. Slightly under 1/2" in length (0.48”). Beads were valued more than gold to Vikings and they produced them as well as pillaged and ransomed for them. In the 10th century, Vikings went to Indonesia specifically to procure a ransom of their legendary miniature beads. A fine centerpiece for modern jewelry creation.
