Ex: Schindler’s Antiques, King Street, Charleston, Purchased about 1980. Bronze, size 9 1/2 with raised radially reeded bezel set with an oval blue gem stone or glass. Typical hand work throughout as produced on plantations and almost surely a Confederate ring. Originally plated with near all plating intact. It was common for cavalry troopers to remove their rings before battle as they marginally compromised the purchase of the sword grip. After battles, rings were picked up by locals in favor of munitions and military equipment.
