Gilt hilt and scabbard. Ivory grip with a white metal (silver?) cross. Scabbard mounts in high relief with a red enameled cross (enamel incomplete) and arms splay chappe. 27 3/4" medially fullered blade decorated 2/3 its length with Masonic motifs. The ricasso marked J R Pettis & CO Troy NY (recorded 1867-71). A little spotty staining to the blade, strictly superficial. Quality and construction including the decoration consistent with its early manufacture. Good sound high-quality early example with expected superficial degradation only.
