5 1/2” single edged blade with dropped point, engraved in simple foliate motifs. The left side stamped with 1821, the year of Greek liberation from the Ottoman Empire. That surcharge, virtually universal to these, suggests that the dagger is earlier and marked at the time of liberation.  Both sides with glossy gray finish. Hilt cast in two pieces and decorated overall in floral pique work. Red velvet covered scabbard with copper chape and throat mount, each with large high relief mounts of classical Greek subjects including snake and mask, both sides. Classic example with good age patina from repeated handling and use.
