UNIQUE MAHDIST DAGGER

Made from a captured French bayonet. 11 5/8 triangular blade etched with thuluth scrip throughout.  Brass guard with expanded terminals.  One piece slightly barrel shaped bone grip with brass cap.  Cloth covered scabbard, slightly shrunk from age, wrapped overall with trade beads in random arrangement and four clusters of cowries suspended on bead drops.  Shows aging throughout with gray patina to the blade.  Etching quite crisp.  Grip with a small chip filled in its working life.  Beads complete with some soiling.  A one of a kind artifact from the Mahdis inner circle.
