KNIFE. Second half of the 19th
century. Largest example we have seen 5
3/8 width, forged iron with sharpened outer edge. The inside with hide liner to protect the
wrist and original iron tipped hide sheath which is removed to reveal the sharp edge when
needed. Metal with uniform light pitting
and dark patina. Hide dry but
complete. Genuine early example.
