Philippine Insurrection of 1899. One piece horn grip with Christian floral form pommel. Brass base ferrule. Hatched brass cross guard. 13" clipped point Bowie form blade inscribed negrito RP. Grip dry with a little delamination. Brass with fine patina. Blade with stable surface rust and some pitting speckles. The blade form is a late use of the classic Bowie as carried by white adventurers in the Philippines. The inscription identifies the accurately identifies the natives as negrito, though the use is odd and the RP may mean rest (in) peace, the Christian salutation to the dead.
