Good early example 17th-18th century. One piece bronze hilt with broad crested
pommel, faceted baluster form grip and broad guard. Brass sheathed forte to the 5 3/4 curved d.e blade which is etched in
stylized foliage both sides. Faceted
section iron sheathed scabbard with ball finial and embossed brass throat piece
above double brass bosses. Reverse
opened revealing the leather liner and
congealed leather belt loop. Typical
Himalayan condition as found on Tibetan weapons (many of which actually
originated in
Nepal). Light rusting, some surface verdigris to the
bronze. The blade bright in heavy
original preservative. See Stone fig.
