Iron hilt with broad disk pommel, swelled grip and monster terminal knuckle bow. The graceful langets with pierced terminals. 29 curved broad fullered blade of particularly heavy form, struck with a makers mark and cipher flanked by sunbursts. Blade quite smooth with wavy lamination, likely watered steel. Hilt dark with little storage rust growth. Original ass skin scabbard with the throat and tip segments overlaid with green cloth when pressed into service under British rule. The scabbard tip replaced with tinned sheet metal at that time. Leather very good for the period. A historic arms which served in three centuries.
