Heavy brass hilt with triple side bars. Wire wrapped leather covered grip, VG. 38 1/4 s.e blade with cursive arsenal markings and 1826 date. Blade with glossy finish over medium to heavy pitting, some edge nicks and shallow bends. The forward guard bent as well, all suggestive of having been dropped and trodden on in a cavalry charge. Likely, resulting from the death of its owner.
