Rare variation, 1 ¼” total height formed as a cross pierced with a circle representing Sol, the sun. Vikings worshiped Sol the sun and Mani the moon as they were dependent on climate for crops as well as sailing. Sun worship comprised primarily, staving off the fear of the sun failing and that concept is repeated in Norse poetry and incantation. The cross, here in the form of the Star of Bethlehem as depicted at the time, is either borrowed from Christianity as Vikings often did as a decorative form, or derives from early conversions to Christianity.
