Fine example displaying the Viking smith's skill and artistry. Forged iron about 2 5/8" length. Elaborately detailed. Tapered striking bar with scalloped/stepped base and tapered terminal grip with monster head finial. The curvilinear form is suggestive of the prow of the Viking long warship. Conserved sound excavated condition.
