Early example which probably served in a Russo-Japanese War of 1904- as well as serving in WWII. Good quality hilt well detailed in deep relief and pierced foliage with gold overlay in protected areas and showing the hand brush strokes of fire gilding. Wire wrapped black buffalo horn grip (small chips to heel). 31 1/4” plated blade (very minor blemishes only) with “temper line” etched in. Plated scabbard with small dent and 95% plating intact. A fine sword from a samurai family which served in the Pacific theater.
