19th century. Just 5" length, about the width of a man's shoe! Beautifully made with lavishly embroidered silk and finely painted decoration on a pink  fabric body. Intricately stitched decoration soles in scrolling foliate motifs. Superficial soiling and wear to one top edge. Virtually no wear to the soles as the owner was unable to walk and they were worn when seated in the belief that being incapacitated as such, indicating the owner's superiority by dedication to idleness. Especially early for these, likely mid 19th century. Pair.
