Forged iron, 6 ¼: length with slightly tapered wedge section blade with acutely angled point. The form evolved from the Frankish scramseax of a century earlier and grew more elongated and elegant in the following century. Tapered tang for embedding in a wood or bone grip. A weapon made strictly for slashing as was the fighting technique of the period.
