1 3/8” length. The muzzle and left cheek of a lion, beautifully sculpted and detailed. Part of a larger, sculpture cast with a hollow center. The destruction of the original obviously required substantial force and motivation. Found near Hadrian’s Wall, it is probably the result of a garrison having been overrun by Celtic Scots.
