8 1/4” diameter, 4 3/8” thick. Convex wood (oak?) sides and 14 staves, one with inset cylindrical iron filler and spout. Outer hoops riveted at the bottom and secured with double cross ties forming feet.  Captive loop handle to the top.  The staves loose within the hoops from shrinkage but complete and original throughout. See Collector’s Illustrated Encyclopedia of the Revolutionary War, Neumann, p.60 for related examples. An untouched museum piece with great age character.
