Iron hilt of Rajasthani form with broad pommel and guard. Recurved knuckle bow with monster head terminal and Arabesque form langets. See Pant Vol. II p.119 #306 for an example from Banswara. The surface covered overall in a matrix or lattice of foliate crosses in silver, preserved nearly complete and bright. 31 1/4” curved s.e. blade with a long false edge. The right side with circular punched at the false edge base, and ahead of two short fullers ate the base. Two additional holed punched through in the forging process (not drilled) which originally were filled as soft metal studs (gold or silver) now picked out for the metal. The blade with scattered oxidation as shown. Original green velvet-covered scabbard probably recovered in the 19th century for use in the British Army in India.
