17th-18th century. Ex: Thame Park, Oxfordshire. 30 3/4" broad fullered curved blade, sharpened to the root and made strictly for slashing. Iron hilt with slender langets and broad canted pommel, overlaid in heavy silver, with about 80% remaining. Blade with uniform gray patina and a single forging line suggesting that pattern welded construction.
