Iron with tapered tubular haft with four retaining rings and domed butt. Iron head with lower hook, tapered fore spike and small back lug. Silver koftgari decoration throughout, lightly worn and about 95% present. 16 7/8" length. Used to guide the elephant as well as being inadvertently crushed in close quarters, the ankus was the only weapon a mahout was permitted.
