18th-early 19th century, the period of British-French war for domination of southern India and Tipu Sultan. Heavy example. 31” slab side blade with long Indian ricasso. Iron hilt with flared tip cross guard and tapered knuckle bow. Dished circular pommel and swelled medial grip. Cleaned rust overall. The blade fairly smooth with some interesting patterning. Hilt with scattered pockmark pitting and small nick or pit to the pommel edge. Has seen one too many monsoons!
