The guard crisply marked ZUG/ZEUGHS:  on respective sides. The back strap with serial number. Good patina. Zug (pronounced Zook) lies south of Zurich. This weapon was part of the Zug town arsenal and is preserved in untouched condition. It dates to the preconfederation period after the Napoleonic Wars and the struggle between cantonal independence and centralism.
