Considerable original fire gilt surface remaining, contrasting with the patinaed recesses of the deep relief decoration, further emphasizing the depth and sense of movement. 32 ¾” diamond section blade. The forte decorated further rococo foliage and lineal grooves emphasized with hound’s tooth banding, a little worn from use. Impressive example of the transition from the rapier to smallsword and introducing the rococo elements which replaced Louis IV styling.
