Second Empire. Brass hilt, originally silvered with lion hear pommel. The guard with a rooster on the globe superimposed on a flag splay. Remnants of silver surface in protected areas. Diced (checkered) walnut grip. 32” hollow-faced triangular blade decorated with trophies or arms and foliage. The ricasso with a W maker’s mark. The decoration with significant gold inlay remaining. Blade gray with a little localized black staining only.
