The form is of the iconic Bagirmi spear shown in Clapperton, 1826, reproduced numerously including in African Arms and Armour, Spring, p. 38 which shows the Sultan of the Bagirmi, mounted, in armor. This example is identical in form and size for ceremonial or presentation use.
