Algeria or Morocco, late 19th century. Ottoman period. Two well crafted all steel daggers with slender faceted grips and slipped point blades. Intricately scalloped and pierced backs. Each, just under 9” length. Brass banded wood double scabbard with white metal tape inlay, a few pieces missing. The construction of the scabbard is exactly as found on Moroccan nimchas. This double set is the only functional example we have ever encountered. Ove the past five decades, we have encountered two similar sets with faux daggers made entirely of wood, for traditional dress purposes. Fine preservation for the period
