One of the remaining mysteries of antique weaponry. Made just like the full size war arrows with cane shaft, iron diamond section bodkin mail piercing points and sinew seated separate hardwood nocks. 8 7/8" long. Both ends of the shafts with polychrome lacquered decoration (minor flaking). The knock ends with evidence of triple fletching, now lacking as always encountered with Indian arrows. Excellent preservation for the period. See Pant, Vol. 1 Page 104 and plate LXXIV. These were shot with an arrow guide, by one account, called a majra, held in the bow hand. The small size prevented the enemy from shooting them back with conventional bows. As well, they allowed the archer to carry a larger supply. Doubtful you will see another offered for sale.
