Iron hilt with broad dished pommel and large quillon terminals. That form, is identified by Rawson, The Indian Sword, pl.45 as central Indian 18th century. The right side cut with a Hindi cipher. 31 ¼” wedge section blade of shallow curved form. The surface with distinct whorl patterning suggesting watered steel construction. The hilt probably silver plated originally. Large fighting example.
