Mahdist War of 1885. 59 ¾” length with particularly finely forged line bordered leaf shaped point with finely chiseled parallel piped medial with barbed corners and a reeded field with oblique lines, probably a clan symbol or badge. Fine forged seam conical socket. Dark wood haft with lineal age checks as expected and double helix iron tape wrapped butt. The bottom with a smudge of white “manor house” paint, suggesting it was a trophy on the wall of the house of an English military officer, brought back from the war. About as nice as these come.
