74" total length with finely forged head of laminar grained iron with distinctive grain showing. Stepped natural cane shaft with fine woven split cane socket with thickened base and medial bands. Shows great age overall and probably predating the availability of cast brass fittings. Head quite crisp and bright. The haft with some wear from use and surface encrustation. From the General Harry Bandholtz collection, selected from the booty of the Philippine Insurrection, which won first prize at the 1905 St. Louis Exposition.
