Bronze, over 1 1/2” modeled as a carnivore (Hyena?) with a human leg in its mouth. The back with a later small loop attached for wear as a necklace. These weights were originally used to measure gold for transactions. They represent proverbs that were integral to the Ashanti culture and later, were exchanged as gifts. The proverb for this example may possibly be findable on the internet.
