Southern Australia. Carved wood, 12” length, oval form. Decorated inside and out with hot iron tool marks (scorch or burn decoration) showing several different tools. Some marks are stationary and others made by moving the tools. Fine age character with light encrustation. No damage. These were used for food gathering and preparation. The marks are talismanic.
