7 5/8” diameter with scalloped rim and edge decorated in a maroon radial pattern. Creamware was developed in Staffordshire England about 1750 and produced by multiple potters including Wedgewood. Its popularity faded as it was replaced by whiter base lead-glazed pottery in the late 18th century and its production was discontinued in the early 19th century. This example is excellent with just a few very tiny edge flakes colloquially known in the ceramics trade as “flea bites”.
