Original painting (gouache, an opaque water based paint) of an officer of the 1st Foot Guards 1788. Matted and custom framed to 12 ½” x 16 ¾”. Richard Simkin (1850-1926) was an early commercial artist employed by the British government to illustrate recruiting posters and The Army and Navy Gazette. In addition, he illustrated books on British military uniforms and battles. This is an original Simkin dating to 1912.
