My Dear Spencer,
I received your two letters of the 3d.
We are getting on well I hope, with the siege. I think we shall have a breach in St. Cristobel this day & tomorrow, in the wall of the Castle.

The letter, 6 3/4” x 8 1/4”. Other letters to General Spencer, Wellington’s second-in-command, around this time can be found in The Dispatches of Field Marshall the Duke of Wellington, K.G. during his various campaigns in India, Denmark, Portugal, Spain, the Low Countries and France from 1799-1818, Volume 7, page 641. Newly custom framed together with an original lithograph portrait of Wellington by G. Robinson, dated January 7, 1822.
