The Christian Duell, two sermons by Humphrey Sydenham which were printed separately from his larger, Sermons upon Solemn Occasions: preached in several Auditories, London, 1637, dedicated to William Laud, Archbishop of Canterbury. Sydenham known as Silver Tongue Sydenham, was a Royalist, famous for his sermons. At the time this was written, he was Vicar of Ashbrittle, Somerset, a position for which he was presented by King Charles I, who , 12 years later was beheaded at Whitehall during the English Civil War.
