Sometimes called shell pendants, owing to their usual ribbed form, this example is of anatomical form, domed with a central nub cluster. The edge is scalloped to incorporate the Wheel of Fortune. Several variant sources describe these as worn specifically by prostitutes and the form of this one supports that attribution, as prostitution was openly practiced.
