Gilt bronze, size 9, with 5.7mm band flaring to the diamond form shoulders. Diamond shaped bezel engraved with studded double borders and central stylized cross, repeated from the shoulders. A fashion ring of a man of some status like a military officer or merchant. See, Ancient Rings, Pollio, p.93. Made with a central core to distribute the molten metal and heat. The core was then laboriously removed by hand with the remnants still visible. Professionally refurbished with the 24karat gold surface restored.
