Faience, 1 3/4” height modeled as a pharaoh in desert hood with aegis and solar disk above. These were made in Egypt for sale to primarily English youths who, upon achieving the age of 21, would take a once in a lifetime tour of the ancient monuments and sites to complete their educational experience. They were sold as genuine, as were reproductions of ancient pottery and other artifacts. Mounted for modern wear with silver suspension and an 18” sterling silver neck chain (shown).
