England, 7th-10th Century AD. Gilt bronze, size 4 1/4 with 2.7mm width rounded face band flared slightly at the shoulders. the round bezel decorated with eight “ring and dot”, sometimes called cup and dot. The placement is irregular, of significance to the maker, now lost. See Ancient Rings, T L Pollio, p.42 lower left for another very similar example found in England. During this period the English Isles were occupied by Anglo Saxons, the blend of Angle natives and invaders from Germany. Vikings invaded in the late 19th century and by the end of the period, occupied about half of the English Islands. Professionally refurbished with the 24karat gold surface restored. Gift boxed with certificate of authenticity.
