The sword carried by union Lieutenants and captains in battle during the Civil War. Brass hilt with loop side guard pierced with foliage, shows good medium patina. Wire wrapped ray skin grip (spotty flaking). 30 ¼” broad curved blade, double fullered and decorated 2/3 its length with scrolling foliage, flags and military trophies. Blade gray with crisp decoration.
