Mexican War period and featuring a spread wing eagle of the type popular with both sides. 33 ½” hollow face triangular blade with smooth to a frosty gray patina. Silvered hilt with an eagle on bar guard, closely matching that on Peterson #133 (1830-40) but for the lack of the anchor which identifies the Peterson example as Naval. Rococo motifs to the knuckle bow and pommel. Silver wire wrapped grip. The silver with a little wear on the hilt elements. Grip excellent. Excellent example for Texas/Mexico collection.
