Peterson #11. 25 1/4” broad straight d.e. convex faced blade. Bronze hilt with “bow tie” form guard and plumed helmet pommel. Ribbed bone grip. Well used with surface staining to the grip. The upper edge with tiny chips. Bronze with good patina and likely gilt originally. Blade smooth with spotty black staining. Substantial fighting form and almost certainly saw service in the Civil War.
