Civil War production. Standard pattern, Peterson #33. Brass hilt with a number to the knuckle bow. The blade with US and 1863, crisply struck. Reverse with AMES MFG CHICOPEE MASS, quite clearly struck for this maker. Blade shows minor oxidation speckles with a rich old glossy finish. Original leather blade seat. Hilt excellent. Leather grip covering and wire wrap complete. Classic Civil War service condition.
